We don’t just “frame” your fabric; we preserve the tension, the fibers, and the story behind every stitch.
Our Signature: The “Holland Stretching” Technique
Most shops use staples or harsh adhesives to flatten fabric. We believe your hard work deserves better. We utilize the traditional Holland Stretching method—a meticulous, staple-free process designed for longevity.
Why We Use Thread, Not Staples:
- No Rust, No Rot: Traditional metal staples can oxidize over time when exposed to humidity, leaving permanent orange “bleeding” or dirt marks on your fabric. Our thread-only method eliminates this risk entirely.
- Balanced Tension: By hand-lacing threads across the back, we achieve a perfectly even tension. This ensures your rows of stitches stay straight and your fabric doesn’t “wave” or distort.
- Acid-Free Foundation: Every piece is stretched over Conservation-Grade Acid-Free Foamcore. This prevents the yellowing and “brittleness” that occurs when textiles touch standard cardboard or wood.
Blocking & Squaring
Is your finished needlepoint slightly “skewed” or out of shape? It’s a natural result of the stitching process. Before we frame, we professionally block your piece—using controlled moisture and gentle tension to square the fabric back to its original dimensions without damaging the delicate wool or silk threads.
Protect the Texture
We recommend Museum Glass® or Spacers for all textile projects. This creates a pocket of air between the glass and your work, ensuring that the “loft” of your stitches isn’t crushed and that moisture doesn’t get trapped against the fibers.
