At North Framing Atelier, we believe the glass shouldn’t stand between you and your art. Since 2012, we have curated a selection of high-performance glazing options—from budget-friendly basics to museum-grade coatings that make the glass virtually invisible.
Our Glazing Collection
1. Regular Glass
The industry standard. It provides a clear view and basic protection from dust and physical touch. Ideal for decorative prints and temporary displays where UV exposure is minimal.
2. Art Glass 70 (Clear View)
A favorite for galleries. This glass features a specialized coating that reduces reflections to less than 1%, making it look like there is no glass at all. It provides 70% UV protection and crystal-clear color transmission.
3. UV Protection Glass (Concervation Clear®)
The “Sunscreen” for your art. This glass blocks 99% of harmful UV rays, preventing the fading and “bleaching” of ink, paper, and fabric. We recommend this for any piece that will hang in a room with natural sunlight.
4. Museum Glass®
The gold standard. Museum Glass combines the best of both worlds: 99% UV protection and Anti-Reflective technology. It offers the highest brightness and contrast levels available in the industry.
5. Non-Glare Glass (Etched)
This glass has a finely etched surface that scatters light to remove harsh reflections. It is best used in high-glare environments (like across from a large window) and should be placed directly against the art to maintain clarity.
6. Plexiglass (Acrylic)
Lightweight and shatterproof. Acrylic is the safest choice for oversized pieces, children’s rooms, or high-traffic public areas.
- UV Plexiglass: Offers the safety of acrylic with the added benefit of 99% UV filtration.
Specialist Technique: Double-Glass Framing
The “Floating in Air” Effect
One of our signature services since 2012 is Double-Glass (or Sandwich) Framing. This technique creates a stunning, modern look where the artwork appears to float within the frame without a visible mat or backing board.
- How it works: Your art is meticulously mounted directly to a back layer of glass (or acrylic) using archival, transparent hinges. A second sheet of glass is placed on top, separated by a hidden spacer.
- The Result: The wall color or wallpaper behind the frame becomes the “mat,” creating a seamless integration into your room’s decor.
- Best For: Pressed flowers, sketches on hand-made paper with deckled edges, and double-sided documents.
